Roll Eyes  I have taught my 4 month old girl Sage to step up, give kisses, and a few whistles.  Now I'd like to know, whats the next best trick you've taught your babies  Grin

Something I worked on with Wuzzie was to get her to go back into her cage (coming off the top) without me having to have her step up and me transfer her.

I had to start with bribing her with cheese and other snacks, to get her to go in.  I kept working on it, always saying "go back" and tapping a perch with a hand.  She now complies to these prompts 90% of the time. She didn't comply tonight because she wanted just "one more" neck rub.  Roll Eyes

But this does help when we are getting ready to leave for a while, she knows what the prompts mean, and seems to cooperate.  Much better than when I had to bribe her and hope.  Wink

I am sure other forum members will have some interesting suggestions, too.  Cool

The best of the tricks to teach your parrot is to teach him/her to poop at a particular place. You have to be very careful and vigilant for that, as they usually give you 2-3 seconds time to react before they let go. Also 90% + times they poop right after coming out of the cage or change places after a while, so you can designate a place, a big bowl or anything and always take her there, right after getting her out of the cage, and say "Poop" or anything you would like to associate it with, don't let her go anywhere else before she is done.
When you become master of "catching the moment", tap that bowl or mat and repeatedly say "Poop", as an added measure initially, you can immediately take her to that area when you feel that she is about to poop.
Good Luck

fitta... I agree step-down also needs to be taught. Take a moment, put some music on. Expose her to country, rock and roll, jazz etc. Show her how to dance! She'll be bopping and clucking before you know it! Read a book. Sophie loved that toy you get for babies....pull the string, gives you an animal sound. Invite a friend over to talk. Introduce your baby. Introduce your baby to your world, what is important to you. Sophie loves me to tickle her under the chin, say kutchiekutchiegoo!(SHE loves THAT WORD!)   nancy M

The best thing we taught our 2 after step up was to fly to us when we called them. I guess in the back of my mind I had the thought what if they escape outside how would I try and get them back and thought if they know how to fly to me when I call then maybe if I am close to them when they are outside then it will work. We also do it from heights, so I call for them to fly down to me as well from the second storey of the house. They can now fly vertically down to me.
