Your take on the Adventure Pack Bird Carrier
« on: May 27, 2007, 01:17:39 AM »
Does anyone has one of those??  I want to buy one for my CAG but I am worried about the weight(just under 5 lb)too heavy???. It is hard to judge the size and weight. I was looking at the Celltei Backpack but realised that you can't hang toys and they are no tray for the droppings. What do you guys think???

Thanks in advance ;)

I just bought one and received it last week.  I bought it for travel.  I go to a lot of softball games where my granddaughter plays and wanted to be able to take Keiko and yet give him some privacy if he started to get upset by all the people.

For that reason I like it.  It comes unassembled and you have to put it together.  The cage is easy enough but we struggled to get the canvas over the cage.  The front opening of the canvas does not seem to be as big as the door so the door will only open three quarters of the way.  I've still been able to use it though.

I think they could have done better for the cost.  I paid $149 for mine but have seen them as low as $105.

Hi, I just received mine. BTW, the opening of the cage should be FACING the zippered side(where the back staps are)!! You seem to have it backwards :D so that you are trying to get your bird in through the window! That's why it doesn't fit. So to get your bird in or out you must unzip the whole back. No Houdini tricks from your bird that way.....

Hope that will make your life easier ;)

Well I'll be dipped!  I hadn't thought of that.  I really feel dumb now! ::)  You bet I will be fixed that soon!

These look great. Mr. impulse purchaser just ordered one. Went for the $105 site, $10 shipping.

We do a lot of hiking and I think it'd be fun to take Paka along. I think that it may take him a while to get used to such a closed space since we've never covered him before.

I do wonder how long it will take Paka to shred the material though.

5lbs. seems like nothing.

Thanks,

Tip of the Day!

My friend's mum recently pointed out that I have the same ironing board cover as her. Can anyone think of a more mundane and pointless remark to make than this?

Some put a rope perch instead of the one that come with it, so that the bird has a better grip while you hike along.
I will try that...

Yes, do get a rope perch.  My 5 month old Keiko "bowed" one of the perches and I'm afraid it might slip unexpectedly so I replaced it with a rope perch.  Keiko only weighs 400 grams.
