Many people do other sites, facebook, etc. My sister has tried to take me into the future, as I do little on the computer. She has put me on facebook, but have never activated it, I belong to other websites, but don't open it.
Why? Because, everything I have ever needed to learn, I have learned on this site. Twelve years later... not knowing or understanding anything I started in the beginning, I'm willing to open up, and invite others into my home. This will be hard for me. I am very social, but only allow a select few,( around 10), to be welcome into my home. People that have heard about the gang, want to meet them.I guess it is time.
It is stressing me... why? I have a beautiful home, have beautiful birds....  Nancy

well im glad yours is beautiful cos mine is very much an animal house  ;D so its beautiful too but in an animal house way. ;D

my mum looks disapprovingly at my house, (hers is like a showhome) seeing the parrot chewed door tops, the "ventilation holes" and "modifications" (made by stressed out rescue dogs when theyv arrived) in doors, the nose smears on the windows , the wrecked office chair, the odd paw print on the wall, the sewn up arms on the sofa where buddy as a puppy chewed them, the little locks iv put on internal doors to keep the dog opening them when he wants. the things to help my little blind dog out.
i view the same house as my HOME where every chew mark is from another animal lovingly rescued , from a happy puppy playing, from parrots being comfortable, every splatter is from food flung in enjoyment every blemish i know who made it and in what circumstances, and i realy dont mind and that is my life! people can accept how i am or stay away.

im hoping on the next visit which is later this month mum will
 a) see how hard iv worked this summer to make my outdoor space look better and work better for both myself and my animal family
b) now shes seen the birds as being fun when they stayed at hers will see how much enrichment the outdoor environment here also brings both them and me
c) will see my staffy buddy is growing up into a more controllable adult dog anf not see him as the son of satan  ;D ;D ;D ;D. he ate her hearing aid, ran off with her handbag, and burst in on her on the toilet (he can open doors) last time she stayed here standing up and licking her face and her glasses and she freaked lol.

i do think she finally strted to see that im now truly happy with things how they are and just to leave me to it but wel see when she gets here.

Very brave of her to come to your house again, leave alone giving some approving remarks. I guess you and the gang have to work extra hard this time to get her to change her mind, which I'm sure you all will do.

well feika it wasnt planned for her to stay here, since the disasterous time she stayed with me she now stays at her friends a few miles from here when she visits where theres no animals  ;D.
unfortunately her friend is poorly and has just had to cancel going to america with her in 2 weeks time, and they were flying from here so she will now stay here 2nights b4 she flies out and a couple nights when she flys back.
it wasnt actually by choice (either hers or mine lol) but itl be nice o see her, and we shall just have to get on with it. buddys matured a lot and i will be having a little word in his ear too  ::)

Ali... I wanted to respond, before now, but my computer was acting up! Yes... your home is beautiful too!I look beyound the occasional bird poop on the window sills. Bird poop on the hardwood floors, that we all attack. We all try to keepup, but always can't.
When dealing with our mothers.... of course, we don't compare! They have no idea, why we love rescued animals, or tolerate birds that make the messes that they do. They were raised in a different era. Your mom is not dissappointed in you. She doesn't understand you. She sees the visual. She's NOT judging you, but is only guided by her "time!"
I know you feel your mother is judging you.... she's making her opinion based on her own experiences, and beliefs. That is typical for her era.  Nancy and Sophie
