Tongue
« on: September 10, 2011, 03:21:22 AM »
As Avery was getting really into chewing on a bottle, I noticed that his tongue is not completely black. In the very back it is reddish pink. Is this normal? Is his entire tongue supposed to be black? He is now angry at me because I have been looking in his mouth, but I am kind of worried about this. He hasn't been acting any different or eating differently. He is extremely vocal and energetic.
Avery now has his own room(:

Can just be a variation in skin pigment.  It just looks like normal skin correct?

Anytime.  When we first brought Sonny and Cher Home, I noticed that his tongue was largely flesh colored.  I didn't realize that birds could have tongues that color, it kinda freaked me out at first also.  I spent alot of time looking at it just to make sure it was normal.

I find the oddest things to obsess about, haha. It's nice to have a group of people with birds to answer these questions.
Avery has is much happier now that I am not staring inside of his mouth, LOL.

Hahaha :D No doubt.  I find the easiest way to look in their mouth is lots of good treats!

Now you guys have ME obsessing about Sophie's tongue! Its reddish pink. As I have shown interested in her tongue, she's shown interest in " regurgitating!" Now I've opened up a serious" oral exploration", that works both ways! Sophie couldn't be happier!
Ollie, our pup, decided to jump in my lap, while on computer. Sophie decided to jump on his head, and start grooming him. After serious grooming him, she told him to " go outside", which he quickly ran to the door. She gently grabbed my nose, told me " no bite!"( I'm glad she didn't shake me!) We DO, reap what we sow!
Sophie has been wagging her tail, like crazy. She truly loved the " tongue experience".  Nancy

Sophie's idea of " preening", has always been unusual! LOL Hope I can show pictures of Sophie loving Ryan's toes! ( birthday week starts tomorrow... Sean has to help me put up pictures of gang!) Ryan has hammer toes. They truly scare us! I worry that he needs surgery to fix them. Sophie LOVES his toes! ( no interest in normal toes, like the rest of us!)  Nancy
