Well I live in Maine and one hot summer day my dad was outside and there was a bird on our doorstep so so he went up to it thiking it would fly away but it didn't. So he got it in a cat carrier and called me said he found a bird a little bigger then a cokateil and I should come take a look at it..So I get there and I'm like WOW coketeil..this thing is the size of a owl. Well after some research I discovered what it was and I put adds everywhere and nothing ever came of it. Well years later I'm going to try the internet and see if maybe someone here lost a African Grey around Maine area in august or july around that time of early 2000's? Some of the things he said when he got here were he would sing "how much is that doggy in the window..roff roof!" and he said "HI YAH KUNG FOOO!" He's been my best friend ever since. I'd hate to give him up but at the same time I know that someone misses him more then I would and I figured I'd start here. Let me know if you have any leads or know of anyone thanks! Oh yea and now he doesn't stop talking mimics everything, counts to seven, hollors to the dog whistles the song paietence by guns and roses..just super super smart. He plays dead on the floor and and then tries to grab my finger with his talons lol he's my lil buddy.

First, Welcome! He sounds like a doll, and a sweetie. How nice of you to continue to seek the original owner. That has to be so hard to think about giving him up, and I feel so bad for whoever lost him in the first place! Good luck to you with whatever happens.  :)

Looks like our "lost" message board posts only go back to 2006

Hello and welcome to the forum from Ali/Captain. It's a good thing you are searching for the original owner but please don't post everything here on the forum about what he talks and does because in the absence of a leg band, these are the only verifying tools.

Yea that's what I was worried about. The good thing is that I know his original name I'm 90% sure because he kept saying his name, followed by you want some food?..or you want a apple and pickle lol? There's a couple other things that are pretty relavent that he said when he first arrived too. I'm just trying to give some details. When I first found him I had to just put lost parrott in the paper and so many people called an dwas like he's mine but no one could tell me naything he said. All they said was he says hello ect...the kung foo thing is pretty rare i would think?

I agree the Kung foo thing sure is a distinct phrase, let's hope the rightful owner does contact you or whatever is best for both of you should happen.

Hi You are so thoughtful for trying to find it's original owner. Just a thought for poor Casper though, he has now bonded with you and depending on his age he may have forgotten his original owner so even if he/she did come forward and could prove ownership what about Caspers feelings? Surely after 7 years he'd miss you and the loving bond you two seem to have. I think as a finder you have done as much as possible, if not more to advertise the find and it was fate that brought you two together so just enjoy each others company and let fate take it's course.

His name is Casper and your post really does make sense. I know it will hurt him alot because we're very close. I just feel like if he was my bird 7 years or 20 years I'd still be looking for him and missing him. I proably wont ever find the owner but atleast I can say I did all I could do. He just yelled to me that "it's time to go night night"..then he snores lol.
