Hey everyone, Not having much luck at the moment, but am keeping a hopeful heart and mind. I can't thank you enough for all of the great suggestions and I am looking at them all! When we get emotional about things it's hard to think rational sometimes and  I had just not thought of  some of your great ideas. Will keep you posted with any news. I knew this was going to be a difficult re-homing with their age and needing to be together but I do have hope and the good part is I will have a bit of my Mother with me even if it's for just a little while, so all is good here in Australia, Mars, and Neptune!!!! :-X :o :D ;) ;) (Inside joke!)  ;D ;D ;D--- Love & Hugs

OK So I have a plan in motion
« Reply #20 on: May 11, 2011, 03:10:16 PM »
Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to give an update on the Skipper & Rascal situation, What I have decided to do is keep the babies with me for awhile anyway, I am going to TRY to convince my father that he really needs to sell the house (3000 sq ft) and move back to South Carolina. The house is way to big for him to keep up. It would be a lot easier to help him if he was back here. I have enough property that has an extra septic tank, well and electric hookup where I could get him a really nice mobile home to put back there where he would still have his independence yet I could check on him everyday and help him get back and forth to where he needs and wants to go. The only problem is, is that he just will not let the house go cause that is where Mom was.. I have to find some way to convince him that it is just too hard for us to get back and forth to Florida with my health as it is and that he is being really selfish by staying there. He has never lived in  a mobile home before and I already know his opinions about them but there are really really nice one's out there Hell, I live in one.. but he is set in his ways so I know it will be difficult decisions to make. If I were to re-home Skip and Rascal and then he moves up here, he would never ever ever forgive me. So for now, I will postpone my decision to re-home them at this point. I am looking for a cage to house them together, like I said, Skipper only goes in his to eat, he sleeps on the playpen at nite but that is all going to change once he is living here. They have already been to the doctor's and have gotten a clean bill of health, but I am still going to "quarantine"  them from Greyson once here just so they can get used to the noises etc and then introduce them slowly into the environment. I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all the well wishes and thoughts and advice that you have given me, Please continue to keep us in your thoughts! Will keep you posted on our progress. Hopefully if Dad recover's a little more strenght by Saturday, the babies should be here by Sunday.. until then...Love and Hugs--Sherrie

Sherri that is a good decision, maybe once the birds are with you maybe your dad will be lonely enough to move,so he can be near your mothers voice ie the birds. It is difficult to convince your parents that they would be better off leaving their home.We went through a similar situation with my mother-in-law a few years back. We finally won the battle but it was tough, but it was the right decision. I hope all goes well with the move of the birdies and hopefully your father. You will be in my thoughts and please keep us posted.

tell your dad your mum will always be with him no matter where he goes, she will always be around. her spirit will follow  :)

i was worried about leaving our old place and leaving our dog (who died almost a year before),then i was watching some programme where a woman was going through a similar thing, she was told her husbands spirit would always follow. which made me feel alot better  :) but anyway there you go,its good that you're keeping the birds if only for a while, hope your dad changes his mind then you can all be together  :)

Sounds like a good plan.  You have to present it like it is HIS idea and that you think it is a fantastic one.
They are modular houses now.  They are simply factory built.  Many of them can actually be deeded like a house once the wheels come off and a foundation is erected.

Good decision not to rehome Skipper and Rascal for now Sherrie, I pray that everything turn into your favor.
