shower too hot?
« on: August 05, 2010, 10:16:02 PM »
i always try to make jaspers shower water just right for when it comes out of the bottle, but i'm wondering if its still a little too hot for his skin. i know our birdies get lots of fluffly feathers/dander but today jasper seems to have loads,i'm even itching with it all and its happened before. so i'm wondering like if we have our bath or shower water too hot it can make our skin dry, would it be the same for jasper?  :)

I can't remember where i got it from but i was always told hand warm was about right for them.  I try to get a balance between rain water and a little bit warmer to allow for our pants weather over here if that makes any sense?

i read somewhere that room temp is about right...it's hot here now, so a cooler bath seems good for both of us...i do notice the sparrows outside dipping in the pond and fountain like crazy...cjs is enjoying his 'cooler' bath in the sink, too ...
when life hands you lemons, break out the tequila and salt.

With mine, I notice that they like it when I fill their bath with cold water from the cooler!(that is darn cold...I have a water cooler like you get at the office with cold and hot water?)...like it better than the tepid water from the sink.....When I say their "bath", I mean their water bowl that is ::) :P, Sophie doesn't quite fit, but don't matter that's the only way she'll bathe.... :D

The Conures will borrow the Caique water bowl that is bigger than theirs.....The Caique will borrow the Pionus water bowl that is bigger than hers, and the Pionus will go into the bird bath intended for the Conures hehe...... No matter, once they are all done, I have to change everyone's water bowl.... :D :D ::)

jasper doesnt like water too cold. if it is he'll just sit there huddled up like he's freezing to death. i'm trying to make it room temperature for him now.

ps. not so much fluff the other night  ;D

By hand warm I literally just mean the water should be luke warm as opposed to hot.

Lol, I know this shanlung.  I used it as a turn of phrase not as a suggested way to measure temperature.  If you prefer I will ask the rest of england to change the phrase to inside elbow warm ;) ;) ;)

All I know on the subject is that sometimes my hairdresser finds the water perfectly comfortable for her hands while I'm all but jumping out of my seat because it feels so hot on my head!  :o

yes me too julie  ;D

i guess the water must have been just right for jasper yesterday as he decided to have a BIG splashy in his water bowl, getting him and me absolutley soaked.  so we put off our 'sunning' until after dinner when he was completley dry.  ;D ;D ;D
