my new dilema
« on: August 06, 2009, 11:19:06 AM »
mmmm.... well i have just this second been offered another grey for free  :-\ owner doesn't have the time for it with work and everything. he/she is plucking at the moment (due to boredom i presume)

now i really want to take it, but i dont know if i can, not sure if i have the room. and how billy would react to a second one, as at the moment billy has me all to himself. i know it would be good for them to keep each other company <---- so theres a positive to it.

i arnt after another grey, but i want to take it off them.

they said 2 people are going to look at the grey, to see if they want it, but i have a feeling its more for novelty and "hey look i have a parrot" than anything else  :'(

i dont know what to do  ???

Mmmm, tough one pete. Could you take him in temporarily? to see how billy gets on with a new bird around? I know i would be tempted too but we just don't have the space.

well i considered that, but i probably wont be able to part with it once i have him/her for a while, and it will be difficult finding a new home , and i dont want to pass him/her around from home to home.

so..... if i take it in, i keep it. laura wants me to take it in. If i had a bigger place i would no questions asked.

But i could make room for it  :-\ :-\ :-\

I had the same predicament a couple of months ago (if you remember) Jojo is still with my friend but he knows that if he has to give Jojo away I'll be available. Anyways, I can truly understand your feelings, it's really hard to say no in this type of a situation. But my advice is to sleep over it, give some rethinking to your decision and then act accordingly.

well i got in touch today, they said i might be able to go see the grey next week if we are both available at the same time, i have told them to make sure that if they find it a home, the person knows about them and doesnt just want it for novelty, as it is plucking and the way i see it you need some one who knows what they are doing and aint going to give up on  it after a few weeks because it isnt talking or still plucking, and i decided that if they dont find a good home then i'll consider it .

that way we could still find it a good home, with out me taking it in , as my main concern is billy and how he would get on with it.

so hopefully we ca

Sounds like the best way, that way your not commiting yourself one way or another.

Something will work itself out pete.
