i wonder if i have the perch too low?...it is about 1 inch (from the bottom of the perch) to the floor...but if i move it up to the next possible area, he would only have about 6 inches of headroom...does the perch being close to the floor matter?

At a guess i would think he would be better if it were higher, as long as he has headroom they like to be high up.

he has 7 1/2 inches from the top of the perch to the ceiling if the perch is placed on the next higher section...looks like it's good for a normal sitting stance, but if he'd stretch up (like when he hears a noice or something) he'd bump his head at the top...but i don't know if they do that anyways while sleeping  ???

elli- this will hopefully be a sleep cage as well for cjs...as you can see, i'm having a few problems...you shouldn't have this problem since harrison hasn't arrived yet..i think sleep cages (imo) are great for people that are around the bird "too much"...i personally think it's a great idea for you too...he will adjust better learning all the new things together...my opinion.  ;D

Well..............
The travel cage is being supplied by the breeder and because of all the worry about Harrison not adapting to his new cage here Im purchasing a cage recomended from the breeder (the same he uses) so that Harrison does not have too many problems adjusting to his new home.
Now if I do say so myself this is dedication to my baby who is being sooooooooo spoilt even befor he moves in lol
I cant wait...
Soz about last weeks baby photos of Harrison I have not yet recieved any from the breeder due to a connection problem ( poor thing has gone wireless and its not working too good for him) He has assured me over the phone Harrison has grown and is doing great.
I will post new pic as soon as I get them.

yes, post them when you get some pix, we all love piccies  ;D glad to hear he's doing well  ;D

...there are a few others on here that uses sleep cages as well, but i forget who...i think its a matter of preference, home layout, etc...i just can't wait for cjs to get used to his smaller cage, so he can start sleeping next to me (his big cage won't fit in my bedroom!)  :o  ...i've heard that isn't good, to allow them to sleep in the same room as you, but don't quite know why (my room is nice and quiet, nothing ever goes on in there except for sleeping) lol...so far i've been letting him take his 'nap' time in the smaller cage, but it's not going well...he keeps wanting to stand in the water dish!  :o i've tried the perch low and high  :P
...would be easier, i think, if harrison is to have a second cage to get him used to it before he becomes attached to just one...

last night was cjs' first night in his smaller cage...it was kind of a 'have to' type deal, as the temps here have went from 60 or so to high 80's within a few days time...and i don't have the ac's in yet (still have crappy old window units)...anyways, its cooler in my room in summer (and warmer in winter, that's one reason i think it best for cjs to be in there with me)...anyways, it went fairly well...i cut up an old sheet, vs. his normal blanket, to cover him with...but i felt bad to leave him by himself on his first night in a different room, so i uncovered the side that faces my bed and i watched tv in there, which i normally never do...(prolly shouldn't have done that, it seems like he's tired today)...poor little guy, i had to rush the change because of the now hot! weather, but i think it went ok for the most part...

well the next day i caught him standing (again) in the water dish...ugh, i won't allow that!  >:( (he wins, lol  :-*) so i went to the pet shop in pittsburgh today and bought a better night cage...it is 23"X23" and 35" high...kinda like sophies and gandolphs nite cage...but it doesn't have the playtop, but it does have a 'fold down' top thingie if i want to use that...the cage can be used with or without the stand (which i didn't want a stand, originally, to sit on my dresser) ...but this thing is so much lighter weight than the one i have that i went ahead and put it on the stand and can move it around from room to room too! (it's on wheels)...he took to this cage right away...amazingly so...after i had it all set up he was climbing in and around it within a half an hour (of course, there were treats strung about, lol)...i am so relieved...he's happy, and i'm happy...and i will use the travel cage for travel, and outside too! ...
...strange how he didn't like the travel cage for sleeping, but it must've been too small compared to what he's used to ??? ...i am thinking that a bigger cage is easier to adjust than a much smaller cage...but if the smaller cage is 'acceptable' size, no more problems (at least for me)  ;D
