i've posted a pic in the gallery, one of cjs' clipped wings...is this what is meant by a permanent clipping?...if so, how long does it take these to grow out?  ???

Dont know much about clipping, as far as im aware, they all grow out when new feathers come in and they moult the clipped ones out. The permanent clips seem to be when the wings have been damaged due to a bad clip rather than a proper clip.

I did notice that CJSs wings looked short in his videos so hes obviously clipped. Bellas wings reach the end of her tail, but couldnt honesty see the difference between a bad clip and a good one.

I'm far from up to date on clips as i don't clip mine, but i never heard of a permanent clip?  I seem to remember being told there are certain feathers not to clip, would a permanent clip mean clipping those feathers?  ???

i don't quite remember, but i did see the mention of a 'permanent clip' in a past thread...(could be wrong but i think it takes a long time to grow out?)...i knew cjs' clip was extremely short, thinking that was maybe what they meant by that...not sure though ;D ???

It is hard to tell how the feather trim was made on a molted feather. You should take a picture of the whole extended wing and then you could tell comparing with the covert feathers. :-\

lol - i think most on here have accepted both clipped and not clipped, if chosen for the right reasons and done properly Carol.  I don't think you're gonna get bombarded.

I saw a blue and gold a few days ago that had been 'clipped'.  No exaggeration, half the feathers on both wings were missing.  When he opened his wing there was a huge gaping gap in the middle of it.  That wasn't a clip it was butchered  :-\

i will try to take a pic of his whole wing, but it will be difficult to say the least (he still isn't doing well with allowing me to lift his wings, so i'd have to hopefully catch him doing it with camera in hand)...i've honestly not decided for sure to clip or not to clip, would like to try both for a short time and then decide...but if his current clip job is so bad, it would just be one less thing for me to decide  :-\ ...cjs looks pretty 'butchered' to me as well  :'(

Did you not get a dvd when you got the harness? Bella has a harness and wore it a few times no problem but for some reason she now has a dicky fit when she sees it so have put it away for now. If its the same as Bellas just hold it up as if Peggy was in it. The buckle goes on their tummy,

don't feel bad, even with a dvd it still confused me at first too  ::) ...do you have a dvd or just an instruction booklet?
...our wing lift lessons are not improving very well...i have a feeling i could get the harness on him, but there's gonna be a huge fight to get it back off (just a guess here, knowing him)...i bet he'd win the fight if so  :P
...practice, practice, practice...lol
