Help Help Help!

So I recently just rescued an African Grey from a lady who should of never took the responsibility of having this bird. She said hes about ten but he seems alot younger than that. I got him becuase she said he plucked his feathers. So we brought him home changed his diet which he loves & he seems pretty content. He climbs out of his cage & makes a few noises like he "woofs" and makes the water dripping noise. But sometimes he fluffs his feathers up and he will nibble at my fungers and put his head down when I try to get him out of the cage. Sometimes just out of nowwhere he will just lash out and bite me hand or do something wierd. He doesnt like his wings touched. I just want to gain his trust even more than I have and he seems pretty attached to me Im the only person that can get him to step up and he whistles for my attention. So any suggestions?

here are some suggested readings by susan friedman phd----

here are some articles by her

a page about her.
http://www.behaviorworks.org/

there is also a list group (PBAS) FOR GRADUATES OF HER ONLINE CLASS  the wait for that class is currently 2 years but you can get some learning from the articles and also by joining the list.  it takes some time to get into the mini lessons (several weeks) and to get a thread leader to guide you with your bird.  but there is tons of information there to help you with your problem bird.  P-BAS Email List at www.yahoogroups.com

i'm currrently taking the mini lessons on the p-bas list and waiting for a thread leader to help with my phobic grey.

also barbara heideneich's book "good bird" is a good resource for this type help.

good luck and remember patience patience patience
