the whole thing with the quiet room is just so nothing distracts his learning. if a lot of noise doesn't bother him, do it where he's comfortable, but yet can't get away from you. if he doesn't seem interested at that particular moment, let it go, try again another time. when i'm teaching tito stuff you can tell when he gets "bored " of it, and i try later on. sometimes he shows no interest to begin with, sometimes i get two repetitions out of him and he's done, or he could be doing it for 25 minutes before he gets annoyed. to get them to talk on command, you are supposed to teach them the answer FIRST, then once he has that just about down, start incorporating the question you want associated with it. while you're sitting with him learning the answer, even whispering the question just loud enough for him to hear it will start associating the two. also, only work on one command at a time. once he has that down work on another. i was told once they pick up one the rest are easier. at least your grey talks, mine's almost 1 and a half, and still makes every noise but a word!
