well, im not saying danyaal is wrong but be prepared it may take longer!!! louie was fine in his cage after this period but it took us a month to get him used to the outside. but saying that he is 3 and was in the same cage for that time. so i would guess a baby wouldnt take so long

Ali is about 15 years old. I am waiting until we move house next month and get Ali settled before buying a bigger cage as the current one is really small but has been Ali's home for many years.

Do you guys think i should buy a new cage or leave Ali in the one he has known for so many years because of his age?

Thanks

Nadia

Thanks for the replies so far ! Bella (My Parrot) has had the new cage for about 1 and half weeks, she's 18 months old now so the previous cage is all she knew. She was rigid at first in it but she's a bit more relaxed now although she still won't come out. Her previous cage she was never in it ha ha !! I'm giving her all the time in the world to get used to it as theres no rush. In fact she's got the next 60 odd years to get used to it. She sits in there whistling the theme to the 'A-Team' and mimicking the house phone. Oh yeah and barking like the dogs whilst shouting 'shut up' cos we do that to the dogs ha ha.

I have changed cages so much mine never even notice when they get a new one.  And so I've never had that issue.  I had a little trouble with the outdoor aviary and audie,  she took a few days to adjust but I think that was because it was outside and so big.

Nadia

I changed Oscars cage after 10yrs of being in the same cage...
We wanted him to have much more space, it took 2 weeks but as Miffy said each one is different.
I had to sit with Oscar whilst he was in the cage and chat to him with the door open... he didnt explore at first but then he came round...
But its like everything that is new... some accept it quicker and others are more shy...
Like ive just brought Oscar a parrot kebob (which I love!!) a red cuttle perch and red cuttle fish... he wouldnt go near them ... wouldnt eat from the kebob.. so I had to put fruit on it for us to share... now he will eat from it..
